Growing up on the family farm in the Redlands, Brisbane was the beginning of my farming career and although I did a Builders Trade Apprenticeship, farming remained my top priority. About 23 years ago my wife and I moved up to Bullyard (near Bundaberg, Queensland) and started what was to become quite a large farming enterprise. We grow ginger and citrus and supply large chain supermarkets as well as Bundaberg Brew drinks. Our life on the farm has been great but we also love to getaway for the weekends and are spoilt for choice living where we do. As a keen member of our local 4WD club we have been on many trips over the years with our family (consisting of my wife Kerrie and our two kids). We have travelled to the Winton Festival, Cape York, Uluru, Big Red, Birdsville Races plus many more destinations. Outback camping is what I love, and we have shared many adventures together.

With all our travels we have had our fair share of camping gear mishaps, new bags breaking and inferior products so Kerrie and I decided to use our talents to design a range of duffle bags that were durably hand-made to withstand the elements of our climate and the conditions of outdoor adventures. And so Desert Rose Camping began. The name itself refers to our daughter Emily Rose, who was a big part of the initial start-up and created many of our original designs.

We source all our canvas locally and support other small businesses when we craft each of our products. We cut, sew and test each product in our workshop on the property.

Our team is rounded out by Fiona our Administration Manager, who helps in all areas of the business and without whom we would be lost.

We were motivated by products that didn’t seem to stand up to the rigorous of actual camping and we decided to solve the problems that we had come up against whilst travelling the lucky country. Our product range is constantly growing from camping related gear to a range of products useful for everyday and we look forward to continuing to evolve and provide a unique option for avid outdoor travellers.
